The app
InspiredTax Africa is offline-first. All tax data you enter — income, deductions, and other figures — is stored only on your device, encrypted with AES-GCM-256. The app makes zero network requests: there is no server, so nothing is ever transmitted to us, sold, or shared with any third party. We simply never see your data.
Automatic local backup (Android)
On Android, the app writes an encrypted snapshot of your data to its own private storage every time it locks — the same encrypted format as a manual export. If your device's own Android backup setting is turned on, the operating system may sync that encrypted snapshot to your Google account in the background; this is Android's own OS-level backup feature, not a service InspiredTax operates, and the snapshot is unreadable without your in-app PIN either way. You can turn this off at any time in your device's Settings > System > Backup.
Deleting your data
You're always in control. In-app, you can reset all tax data while keeping your account, or delete your account entirely — both from the Profile screen. Uninstalling the app removes all local data immediately and permanently, including any local backup snapshot; there is no server copy for us to separately delete, because none exists.
This website
This site sets no tracking cookies. The free calculators run entirely in your browser — no figures are sent to a server. If you join the launch waitlist, your email address is processed by Formspree solely so we can notify you at launch.
